Paniolo
TOCC has hosted the Paniolo (that’s Hawaiian for cowboy) here in Galveston Bay annually (until COVID). In 2023, the time was finally right to bring back the race! 2023 brought fairly big bump and about an 11-mile course to the participants. Open, mixed and womens crews from all over Texas came down for the challenge.
Kemah Christmas Boat Parade
TOCC also participates annually in the Christmas boat parade in Kemah. The canoes get re-rigged into a double hull, and our elves decorate it with lights. We paddle across the lake for a front row view of the fireworks display, then head back for the parade. We might be the smallest entry each year, but we are definitely having the most fun.
Beach Cleanups
Each year, TOCC gives back to the community by participating in beach and lake clean-ups. In 2023, we participated in the Clear Creek cleanup.
Races
Most years, TOCC sends paddlers out as TOCC teams and/or single paddlers to outrigger (and dragon boat) races in Hawaii, California, Florida, and beyond. Our paddlers also race at smaller races here in Houston and elsewhere in Texas.
