Carleton Kruse, Cheryl Cleland, and Karan Cleland co-founded Texas Outrigger Canoe Club (TOCC) in Surfside Beach, Texas in 1987. Over the years, the club moved a couple times and has settled to its current home in Clear Lake Shores, a Houston suburb on Galveston Bay. The club has fostered a fun and athletic ohana, and has sent crews to races from Hawaii to New York and everywhere in between.
We believe that the joy of paddling is amplified when shared with like-minded individuals.
Our dues cover our moorage and equipment maintenance. We have options including individuals, students and military. We also offer a limited number of rack rentals.
Our Quartermaster maintains our equipment, from our canoes to PFDs and paddles, to be safe year-round.
Our experienced steersmen lead our workouts, and they have the crew's safety in mind first and foremost.
Our team is dedicated to creating a vibrant and inclusive environment for individuals who share a love for paddling and the great outdoors.
