ABOUT US

History of our Club

Carleton Kruse, Cheryl Cleland, and Karan Cleland co-founded Texas Outrigger Canoe Club (TOCC) in Surfside Beach, Texas in 1987. Over the years, the club moved a couple times and has settled to its current home in Clear Lake Shores, a Houston suburb on Galveston Bay. The club has fostered a fun and athletic ohana, and has sent crews to races from Hawaii to New York and everywhere in between.

The club has three OC-6s, two spec and one Bradley. We typically host workouts three times per week; currently they are Wednesday and Friday evenings, and Sunday morning. Once certified, club members are also allowed use of the club’s two OC-1s and OC-2 on their own as well. We have rack storage for your personal canoe available on club grounds.
